2020 Elections

You can add your voice of political activism by giving to candidates who are pro-Israel. When you give it’s important that the candidate to whom you are giving knows that your concern is that the US keep Israel strong. You don’t have to have a lot of money to make your voice heard by joining Pro-Israel America.

You can contribute any amount you’d like. Here’s a message from SFMEW chairman and Pro-Israel America member Halley Faust:

I know that, like me, you want to make sure that Israel stays safe and secure, and one of the most important ways to do that is to help elect pro-Israel candidates for Congress.  Support for Israel is already an issue in a number of campaigns, and some groups are specifically targeting incumbents for their history of supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship.  Some of the Democratic candidates for President are now suggesting that support for Israel should be conditioned on Israel’s taking unilateral steps for peace, something that, as we’ve seen in Israel’s south, could endanger Israel’s security.

Fortunately, a new organization makes it easy to support PRO-ISRAEL candidates for Congress from both sides of the aisle.  Founded by two pro-Israel veterans, Jonathan Missner and Jeff Mendelsohn, Pro-Israel America has created a platform for anyone to get involved in pro-Israel politics.

Pro-Israel America publicly endorses candidates who support the U.S.-Israel relationship and has set up a PAC to allow its members (joining is FREE) to learn about and support the election of pro-Israel candidates, either by donating to the PAC or by donating directly to any of their endorsed candidates.  The online web portal is not only easy to use but ensures that your support for congressional candidates is made with a pro-Israel message.

Getting involved in pro-Israel politics has never been more important.  You can get more information and join for free by clicking here (or pasting the link: https://secure.everyaction.com/X9i63b_Sjke6DyBj8TY7Cw2).

I hope you’ll join me in helping ensure we have a strong, pro-Israel Congress.

As we try to get Lannan to change its behavior it’s important to continue to provide our voice of activism. This past week Brian Yapko did so, sending a letter to the editor to the New Mexican, supporting Robby Geller’s previous letter on the depth of Israeli democracy, even in the face of the political struggles ongoing now with re-establishing a majority Knesset parliament. Yasher Koach to Brian. Please take Brian’s work, and that of your fellow SFMEW members, to encourage you to add your pro-Israel voice to the Santa Fe dialogue. After reading Brian’s letter below, why don’t you vow to write your own pro-Israel letter or op-ed? You can find more information on how to do so here.

Here’s Brian’s letter (from the Santa Fe New Mexican, October 24, 2019):

In defense of Israel

Dr. Robert Geller’s observations about Israel and the Lannan Foundation’s anti-Israel bias are correct (“Lannan lectures go after Israel without counterpoint,” Letters to the Editor, Oct. 4). Israeli democracy is messy, but it may well function better than our own. Israelis come from every corner of the globe, every religion and every color. Israel is the only gay-friendly country in the Middle East. Muslim Arabs have equal rights to vote, appear in court, hold office or attend college as any Jewish citizen. Review Israel’s constitution and court cases. Israel’s liberal reality is so divorced from accusations of “apartheid” that Israel’s accusers are clearly unconcerned with actual social justice. When angry calls for boycotts of Israel do not promote peace but, instead, result in death threats, swastikas defacing synagogues and vicious assaults on Jews who have no role in Israeli policy, then it is clear that the “social justice” BDS agenda is a sham. When demands for Palestinian justice actually demand destruction of the world’s only Jewish state and ignore that Jewish Lives Also Matter, it is clear that BDS exists only to promote anti-Semitism.
