NM Governor Lujan-Grisham Signs Executive Order on Antisemitism

Yesterday, August 16, NM Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham signed an Executive Order that adopts the working definition of antisemitism established by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) as the state’s legal standard.  We thank her and her wonderful staff for working with Todd Goldblum, StandWith Us and the Jewish Federations of North America to make this happen.  SFMEW chairman Halley Faust was actively involved in all aspects of this initiative.

We want to thank Todd Goldblum from Albuquerque for initiating this action with the Governor, StandWithUs including Jordan Cope and Peggy Shapiro, and Adam Teitelbaum from the Jewish Federations of North America for their extensive help in developing materials for use with the Governor’s staff.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber, and Santa Fe Chabad Rabbi Berel Levertov.  We thank them for their participation and support.

More on the meaning of the IHRA in coming days!  In the meantime, you can read more about the IHRA and the Governor’s executive order here, here, and here, where it made Israeli International news.  The IHRA definitions and examples can be found here.  (https://www.holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definitions-charters/working-definition-antisemitism)
